Archbishop Duval’s pastoral letter – Winter 2026

Archbishop Charles Duval, C.Ss.R., is the 6th Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Grouard-McLennan.
Duval was born in Hull (now Gatineau), Québec on April 12th, 1964. He entered the novitiate with the Congregation of the Holy Redeemer (the Redemptorists) in 1985, and was ordained a priest in 1993. With the Redemptorists, Duval has served as a missionary in Haiti, as the director of the Redemptorist Youth Mission Team, as a pastor across Canada, as vice rector to the Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré Shrine and as Provincial Superior to the Redemptorists Province of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré and subsequently to the Redemptorists Province of Canada. He was ordained Coadjutor-Archbishop of Grouard-McLennan on May 14th, 2025 and installed as Archbishop on Sept. 6th, 2025.
The Archbishop is assisted in his ministry by the chancery, the administrative heart of the Archdiocese of Grouard-McLennan. It is in the chancery that all documents related to the diocese are drawn up, recorded, and archived. The principal chancery officials in the Archdiocese of Grouard-McLennan are the Archbishop, the Vicar General, and the Chancellor. The chancery officials are assisted by the Financial Administrator, the Executive Assistant to the Archbishop, the Archivist, a Communications Officer, a bookkeeper and a receptionist.
The Archbishop is also assisted in his governance of the Archdiocese by the Council of Priests and the Curia. The Archdiocesan Pastoral Council is an advisory body to the Archbishop.
