Photos from Archbishop Duval’s Profession of Faith and banquet

In the hours prior to his Episcopal Ordination, Most Rev. Charles Duval, CSsR professed and signed the Declaration of Canonical Obedience and the Oath of Fidelity, and also recited the Profession of Faith, at the chancery chapel in Grande Prairie.

The Profession of Faith includes the bishop’s pledge of belief in all of the Catholic Church’s teachings and doctrine – those revealed by divine revelation, those handed down by tradition and those proclaimed under the magisterial authority of the Pope and the college of bishops. The Oath of Fidelity is a special pledge that Most. Rev Duval proclaimed, stating that he will teach and proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ in truth and with clarity; that he will be obedient and respectful towards the Holy Father, the Pope; that he will uphold and defend the teachings of Holy Mother Church; and will sincerely obey and perform the sacred duties of his office as Archbishop of Grouard-McLennan and as a Successor to the Apostles.

The Apostolic Nuncio to Canada, Most Rev. Ivan Jurkovič, Archbishop Gerard Pettipas, CSsR, the two consecrator bishops Michael Brehl, CSsR and Hector Vila, and others were in attendance.

As well, here are some photos from the banquet held at the Holiday Inn in Grande Prairie, before Most Rev. Charles Duval’s ordination as Coadjutor Archbishop. We made some time to take photos of our new archbishop with his family, his fellow Redemptorists and bishops, as well as the clergy and staff of the Archdiocese.

Thanks for everyone who helped make this banquet a special occasion for all of us!
