Requiem Mass for Fr. Albert Sterzer – St. Joseph Church, rande Prairie

We pray for the repose of the soul of Rev. Fr. Albert Sterzer, C.Ss.R, who served in the archdiocese for many years. Please keep Fr. Albert, his family and relatives, his friends, his confrères and the local Redemptorist community in your prayers at this time.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.

From the Redemptorist Province of Canada: “It is with deep sorrow that the Canadian Province of the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer (Redemptorists) announces the passing of our beloved brother, Rev. Fr. Albert Vincent Sterzer, C.Ss.R., most recently affiliated with the St. Joseph’s Community in Grande Prairie, Alberta, on January 21, 2026. He was 89 years old and had been a professed member of the Congregation for 69 years. He was ordained to the priesthood on June 23, 1963.

Funeral arrangements are pending and will include a Funeral Mass at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grande Prairie, with interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in Edmonton. Dates and times will be communicated as soon as arrangements are finalized, in consultation with family members and St. Joseph Catholic Church.”

Fr. Albert’s funeral will be held at St. Joseph Church in Grande Prairie on Tuesday, January 27th. Prayers start at 9:30 am, followed by the funeral Mass at 11:00 am. The internment will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery in St. Albert, Alberta at a later date.
