About the Faith Formation Committee
The Faith Formation Committee (FFC) is a consultative body whose members are appointed by and, therefore, are directly accountable to the archbishop. The principal purpose of the FFC is to collaborate with and support the main catechists in the archdiocese: pastors in the parishes and staff in the Diocesan Office of Evangelization and Catechesis.
The work of the FFC includes:
- helping parishes find ways to respond to people seeking to learn about Christ and his Church;
- assisting parishes in their support and encouragement of Catholics who are seeking to deepen their faith;
- carrying out assessments of faith formation needs in the archdiocese;
- reviewing the programs for evangelization and catechesis that are being used in parishes and schools;
- making recommendations on changes to and/or adoption of suitable programs to meet faith formation needs in the archdiocese.
There is no specific composition of the FFC. The members are drawn by the archbishop from around the archdiocese. There must be at least five members, with a maximum of 15. Employees of the Diocesan Office of Evangelization and Catechesis are ex officio members.
The FFC meets at least once a year.
