Canada’s Bishops are gathered in Montreal for the annual Plenary Assembly of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB), a time for prayer, reflection, dialogue, and discernment on the life and mission of the Church in Canada.
The Assembly began with the celebration of the Eucharist, presided over by the Most Reverend Pierre Goudreault, Bishop of Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pocatière and President of the CCCB.
In his Annual Report, Bishop Goudreault highlighted or key developments over the past year: the continued process of synodality, the establishment of ministry for migrants and refugees efforts to strengthen the CCCB’s engagement with the federal government, and continues works of healing and reconciliation.
The bishops also approved a letter to Pope Leo XIV, asking for his prayers as they discern the pastoral priorities that will guide the work of the Conference in the coming year.
The Plenary Assembly will continue through September 25, 2026.
