Many people across the Archdiocese of Grouard-McLennan are preparing to be fully received into the Catholic Church this Lenten and Eastern season, including in the parish communities of Grande Prairie, Peace River and Fort Vermillion

This is a special rite for catechumens who are preparing to be received into the Catholic Church through the sacraments of baptism, confirmation and the Eucharist, and for candidates, those baptized in another faith tradition who are asking to be received into full communion with the Catholic Church. The Rite of Election for the Archdiocese was held at St. John the Baptist Cathedral in McLennan on Sunday, Feb. 22nd, with three persons preparing for full reception into the Catholic Church from Our Lady of Peace Church in Peace River. A separate Rite of Election for the catechumens and candidates at St. Joseph Church in Grande Prairie was also held on Sunday, March 1st.

Some photos from these celebrations are shared below. We pray for all people in the universal Church preparing for full reception this Lenten and Easter season.
