On Saturday, October 4th, the Archdiocese of Grouard-McLennan will host a Jubilee Year Mass and celebration of succession for Most Rev. Charles Duval, CSsR, as the 6th Archbishop of Grouard-McLennan. These celebrations will be held at St. John the Baptist Cathedral in McLennan. The Mass will be held at 2:30 pm, followed by dinner and entertainment at Centre Chevaliers (Smoky River Community Hall/The Pink Elephant) in Falher at 5:00 pm.
No tickets are required for the Mass or dinner.
This event will be an opportunity to celebrate the Pilgrims of Hope Jubilee Year as an archdiocesan family and to commemorate the 78th anniversary of the dedication of St. John the Baptist Cathedral. The Coat of Arms of Archbishop Duval will be displayed in its new home at the cathedral and Archbishop Pettipas will ceremoniously hand over his crozier to Duval.
This celebration will also be an opportunity to honour the ministry of Archbishop Gerard Pettipas, CSsR, and to offer him best wishes for a well deserved retirement. Special miraculous medals of the Blessed Mother and prayer cards will be distributed in honour of our Jubilee Year Pilgrimage. Each deanery will process a special banner representing the five regions of the archdiocese, and more.
We hope to see as many priests and parishioners as possible for this most momentous celebration!
