Dear Clergy, Brothers and Sisters,

It is with profound sadness that I announce the death of Father Joseph Choji who, since early May of this year was serving St. John the Baptist Cathedral Parish as well as St. Guy Parish in Guy. After weeks of medical tests, it was discovered that Father was suffering with progressed liver cancer. He was admitted to the McLennan hospital on Thursday August 28th and passed away on Monday, September 1st around 6:00 am.

Father came to us from the Archdiocese of Jos in Nigeria.  He arrived in the archdiocese in early January of this year. We plan to have a funeral Mass at the cathedral for Father Choji at the earliest date. His body will then be repatriated to his country. Father Choji celebrated his 59th birthday in March and his 30th anniversary of ordination in December 2024.  We pray for the repose of his soul and for his family, that they be comforted and consoled at this sad time.  God comfort us all.

Respectfully yours in Jesus Christ,
Msgr Charles Lavoie PH
Vicar General/Chancellor
