He served in our archdiocese at St. Joseph Church in Grande Prairie and has been retired for several years\, eventually moving to a care home in Hythe. Fr. Rajmund was 75 years old. \nFr. Rajmund’s passing comes only a few days after the passing of his Redemptorist confrere Fr. Albert Sterzer\, CSsR. Please keep Fr. Rajmund and Fr. Albert\, their family and relatives\, confrères\, friends and the local Redemptorist community in your prayers at this time. \nFr. Rajmund’s funeral will be on Tuesday\, February 3\, 2026\, at 11am at St. Joseph Catholic Church\, Grande Prairie. A viewing will be held before the funeral beginning at 10am. He will be buried at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Edmonton on Wednesday\, February 4\, 2026 at 1:30pm.

Fr. Albert Vincent Sterzer\, C.Ss.R.\, most recently affiliated with the St. Joseph’s Community in Grande Prairie\, Alberta\, on January 21\, 2026. He was 89 years old and had been a professed member of the Congregation for 69 years. He was ordained to the priesthood on June 23\, 1963. \nFuneral arrangements are pending and will include a Funeral Mass at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grande Prairie\, with interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in Edmonton. Dates and times will be communicated as soon as arrangements are finalized\, in consultation with family members and St. Joseph Catholic Church.” \n  \nFr. SUMMARY:Celebration of Succession & Jubilee Mass - St. John the Baptist Cathedral\, McLennan
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, October 4th\, the Archdiocese of Grouard-McLennan will host a Jubilee Year Mass and celebration of succession for Most Rev. Charles Duval\, CSsR\, as the 6th Archbishop of Grouard-McLennan. These celebrations will be held at St. John the Baptist Cathedral in McLennan. The Mass will be held at 2:30 pm\, followed by dinner and entertainment at Centre Chevaliers (The Pink Elephant) in Falher at 5:00 pm. \nThis event will be an opportunity to celebrate the Pilgrims of Hope Jubilee Year as an archdiocesan family and to commemorate the 78th anniversary of the dedication of St. John the Baptist Cathedral. The Coat of Arms of Archbishop Duval will be displayed in its new home at the cathedral and Archbishop Pettipas will ceremoniously hand over his crozier to Duval. \nThis celebration will also be an opportunity to honour the ministry of Archbishop Gerard Pettipas\, CSsR\, and to offer him best wishes for a well deserved retirement. Special miraculous medals of the Blessed Mother and prayer cards of Pope Leo XIV will be distributed in honour of our Jubilee Year Pilgrimage.
